ContentOro wins Startup of the Year 2015 at VCIC Venture Capital Investment competition

University of Michigan Ross School of Business MBAs Unanimously Recognize ContentOro’s Unique Business Model

On Friday, December 11, 2015, teams of Michigan Ross MBA and BBA students played the role of VCs to a group of local startups. The students and founders were participating in the Michigan Ross Internal Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC), a highly interactive simulation of the VC process in which students – many of whom are actually members of the four student-led venture funds at Ross – play the role of the VCs, while real startups pitch, and VC judges assess their performance.

All of the teams unanimously selected ContentOro as the Startup of the Year from the competitors. Each team must choose only one startup in which to invest, and must create a term sheet for an investment in that company. Teams conducted due diligence on all competing companies, and had an opportunity to interview the CEO of each during the competition.

“We absolutely could not run a realistic event without the full participation and cooperation of local entrepreneurs like ContentOro. Bob Chunn’s performance was exceptional – he provided the teams with great information and treated the teams like true investors during the due diligence and negotiations portions of the competition.” said Ann Perigo, Associate Director, Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. “The student investors rewarded ContentOro with the Startup of the Year Award for receiving the most term sheets from student teams. We are extremely grateful to ContentOro and our other local entrepreneurs for participating in VCIC.”

“I’m honored that the students recognized the business value that ContentOro brings to the market,” said Bob Chunn, CEO and Founder of ContentOro. “The students were very impressive. They asked excellent questions and had solid insights into ContentOro’s business model. I’m sure I learned as much as they did”.

The VCIC competition is just one way that ContentOro participates in the rich collegiate and startup environment in the Ann Arbor area. They have hired several interns from Eastern Michigan University, are participating in the U of M Ross School of Business Financing Technology Commercialization (FTC) accelerator practicum, and are active members of Ann Arbor Spark business accelerator and New Enterprise Forum.

ContentOro recently received $550,000 in seed funding and is based in Ann Arbor.
