HITLAB World Cup (SM): Call for breakthrough ideas to improve healthcare access and delivery

Global competition offers innovators chance at start-up money, industry connections

NEW YORK — Starting today, innovators and entrepreneurs with novel solutions to healthcare challenges can enter the HITLAB World CupSM for a chance to win part of $18,000 in prize money and key visibility with thought leaders.

“The HITLAB World Cup is an exciting opportunity to impact healthcare internationally,” said Nishita Rai, PhD, executive director of HITLAB®, organizer of the annual event. “While millions struggle daily to obtain quality care, innovators work tirelessly to create positive change. Their solutions are often ingenious and effective. Our HITLAB World Cup is a powerful platform to launch these ideas, as past participants demonstrate.”

Innovators worldwide are invited to submit original concepts to improve healthcare access and delivery. HITLAB will accept Round One entries through August 31, 2015. Separate, satellite competitions are being planned in Amsterdam and New Delhi.

Experts will select the most promising submissions. Finalists will receive expense-paid trips to present prototypes at the HITLAB Innovators SummitSM December 3-4, New York City.

The Summit–chaired by Columbia University’s Abdul El-Sayed, MD, PhD, and BTG’s Christine R. Coyne, MBA—will also feature talks, panels, and demonstrations.
