See Jane Go named top 10 automotive startup by Automobility LA and LA Auto Show

See Jane Go (SJG) – the first commercially launched women-driving-women ride-hail service – has been named one of AutoMobility LA and LA Auto Show’s 2016 top 10 automotive startups.

William Jordan, SJG’s founder, said, “Only 15 per cent of Americans are early adopters of ride hail and one third of Americans are not familiar with existing ride-hail services. This creates ample opportunity for new market entrants that provide differentiation and value.

“Additionally, only about 25 per cent of drivers in the traditional ride-hail space are women. This illustrates a concern that might be causing them to be slow adopters of the driver opportunity. We are thrilled to have AutoMobility LA and the LA Auto Show recognize the market demand for See Jane Go and recognize us as a Top Ten Automotive StartUp.”

SJG is the first app to offer a ride-hail service designed exclusively for women. The platform is striving to create a movement to provide a new, trusted option for women both as drivers and passengers.

The app initially launched as an alternative to existing ride-hail options where they may not feel comfortable getting into a car with a male driver. Male passengers, however, can board a SJG vehicle if they are hosted by a female passenger.

The prize sets SJG and nine other startups apart from thousands of other newcomers. The roster of past winners includes companies such as HopSkipDrive, a rideshare service for kids, which garnered more than $10m in investments after being named an award recipient.

Winners were selected based on a combination of criteria, including vision, innovation, broad applicability, the likelihood of adoption success and more.
