One of the largest gatherings of cloud industry professionals and startup founders has been postponed due to concerns over the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak.

Ingram Micro Cloud, a leading cloud ecosystem and digital commerce platform, announced Thursday that it will postpone its flagship Cloud Summit conference until early 2021.

The conference was to be held May 12-14 at the Miami Beach Convention center in Miami Beach, Florida. Organizers had expected attendance of more than 2,000 cloud industry professionals, including the top global resellers, service providers, vendors and industry luminaries.

According to a company statement, its leaders had been keeping close watch on developments surrounding the virus, and are putting the health and well-being of all attendees and exhibitors as their top priority.

“We want to thank our speakers, partners, sponsors and the City of Miami Beach for their support in making this difficult—but correct—decision,” said Adam Christensen, head of Cloud Global Marketing and Communications at Ingram Micro.

He added, “We look forward to our next gathering of cloud leaders and innovators as we continue to support growth in the cloud ecosystem.”

Cloud Summit is in its 11th year, and is the foremost gathering of cloud industry professionals and startup founders. Past speakers have included former SAP CEO Bill McDermott and Gavriella Schuster, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft.

The summit was also set to hold the finals of Ingram Micro Cloud’s Comet Competition, a global startup contest which features exclusively B2B software innovators “whose products have clear applications for the technology channel,” according to a previous company release.

Over 16 finalists from around the globe are competing for a USD $1 million cash prize – one of the largest in the startup pitch competition space.
